Blooms for Autumn
I always say Camellia Asakura is the first sasanqua to flower and the last to finish, hence it is my favorite.
Asakusa has proven me correct even with this unusual weather pattern, the first blooms are on display in the nursery. Watch the flowers go from a soft pink bud to almost pure white flower.
The bush is vigorous, strong, upright and sun hardy. Leaves are dark green, thick and glossy highlighting the pink buds and showy white flowers. Asakura looks great either clipped to shape or left to form a natural tear dropped shaped shrub. I have them planted down my entire drive under my Ornamental Pears.

Retro Revival.
Remember these in the 70s???? Begonia Maculata or polka dot Begonia is a super interesting Begonia variety with its large spotted leaves and white flowers. Sure to create a statement in your indoor jungle

Snails you desire!
Another exciting Begonia arrival! The Begonia 'Escargot' looking stunning in this dark green cylinder pot. The unique spiral on its leaf is reminiscent of a snail

Goji Berry (Lycium barbarum)

Goji Berry or Chinese Wolfberry (Lycium barbarum)

Goji's have a sweet flavour similar to Cranberry or Sultana and can be used in sweet or savoury dishes.
They partner with sweeter herbs like most mints, parsley, coriander and in salads, sauces and casseroles with tomatoes and onions. Excellent added to mixed fried rice or other similar dishes.

They are easy to use dried or rehydrated and can be added at all stages of cooking. Great eaten raw as an in between snack or on top of the morning breakfast cereal. As with and Asian plant that has been used for 1000 plus years there are stories and rumours about what it can and cannot cure. Most are just stories and have been challenged in many courts. However like all similar fruits they are high in Vitamin C and A, phyto chemicals and are also good sources of plant based protein.

This quick growing vine likes fertile well drained soil in part to full sun. Will grow well in any garden and also in large pots.

Harvest fruit in late autumn and then prune to keep in shape. Do not prune prior to fruiting and it may take a year or two to set fruit. Give regular applications of Maxicrop and fruit n citrus food to keep the plant healthy and producing well.

Tolerates moderate frost
Height 1.5m x Width 1.2m

Autumn is the Time To Control Snails

Multiguard pet-safe snail bait uses an iron salt complex rather than a poison to kill slugs and snails, making it a safe product to use in the home garden.
The most effective time of year to get slugs and snails under control in the garden is through autumn.
In autumn, snails are still active but have not yet laid eggs. At this time of year, even light showers or overnight dews are sufficient to stimulate snail movement.
